Summer Holidays 2024: Season of Wellbeing

The Summer Holidays are here, and we have so many exciting craft activities and workshops to keep the whole family busy throughout the holiday!
It’s the Season of Wellbeing at the Museum of Cambridge, linking to our temporary exhibition ‘The Stories Behind the Stitches’ which explores how crafting can improve our mental and physical health. Each of the family crafts throughout the summer are related to improving wellbeing, encouraging mindfulness and self-reflection.
Here’s a rundown of all the excitement with links to more information and booking where applicable.
? Mini-Me Maker

? In this first event for the Museum of Cambridge’s Season of Wellbeing, craft a miniature version of yourself, and learn to appreciate the little things that make you, you!

? Woad-Working Wonders

? Get hands on with a complete guide to natural dyeing. From planting seeds to your very own naturally dyed bracelet, follow the process of a 2000-year-old craft.

? Junior Journals

? Design your own journal to help reflect and improve your wellbeing. Use a variety of materials to make a unique cover, then take some time to fill your journal in.

? Turn rubbish into music in our final summer workshop. Learn how a tin can and a balloon become an instrument before taking part in a drumming circle.

Alongside events, there are three new trails to take you through the Museum during your visit.
Each trail is aimed at different age groups, so there is something for everyone! Alongside this, the current trails (Why do We Craft, and Mischief the Monkey) will still be running. That means we have 5 trails on the go!

Look at natural objects and the influence of nature on the Museum’s displays
? Creative Crafts, for ages 13+
Find beautifully crafted objects in the collection and design your own.
Each trail includes engaging activities and extra information to take your visit to the next level.
